  • I need to get focussed on completing my Advanced Teacher Status submission. Time is running out!

Theme for the Year Update

My theme for the year is health and wellbeing. Here’s what I have done this month in keeping with my theme:

  • Hmmmm…. not a lot! I skipped my massage this month. Looks like I need some self care.

  • However, I socialised with colleagues this month, which is good for well being.

April has definitely been a better month than March. I think it’s largely down to the fact that there is more daylight now! This month’s achievements include

  • Acquiring my new printer and working on developing new stock for martinemakes.com.

  • Introducing a new monthly freebie for Martine Makes.

  • Agreeing to take a pitch at Guernsey’s first Sustainable Market at the end of May and doing all the planning associated with that.

  • Organising my new home office.

  • Keeping my emails under control.

  • Applying for a Master’s in Education…!

I also had a productive, but also restful Easter break.

What Next?

  • May will be focussed on continuing my market prep - making stock and planning my display.

  • I also need to work on generating some income for The Teaching Space - things are a little quiet over there.

  • I’ve read and researched lots for my Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) qualification.

  • I’ve been hard at work in the day job.

  • I got the cash together that I needed to buy my printer. Just need to find more time to make art now!

What Next?

  • Rest over Easter break!

  • Start making some art tutorial videos.

  • Keep up with my research for ATS.

Achievements

How is it possible to be two months in to the year already? This month:

  • I had a coaching session with an artist I admire and really started to nail down my style. Consequently I am no longer ‘blocked’ and have been drawing lots.

  • I’ve been doing lots of self-care work this month including experimenting with new recipes and researching diet culture.

  • I’ve stuck to my theme for the year - see below.

  • Made some new art for my shop and update the look of the website.

  • Decided to pause book 2 until I settle on an idea. I have no reason to rush the process.

  • I’ve kept up-to-date with my podcast schedule.

What Next?

  • Keep making art.

  • Explore the logistics and costs involved in professionally printing my own art to consider entering the personalised market.

  • Keep up my self-care schedule (see below).

Theme for the Year Update

My theme for the year is health and wellbeing. Here’s what I have done this month in keeping with my theme:

  • Not run that much - instead, I have walked. This is an achievement because my body has not wanted me to run. There’s been a little pain (nothing I am too concerned about but nevertheless, it is a signal for me to take it easier, so I have).

  • Enjoyed half term and really rested.

  • Enjoyed a lovely massage.

  • I baked!

Achievements

I can’t lie - January is not my favourite month. But as Januarys go, this one has not been so bad. This month I:

  • Released my book on Amazon (for Kindle) and Kobo.

  • Stuck to my theme for the year - see below.

  • Generally felt organised and in control.

  • Made some new art for my shop.

  • Booked a creative coaching session with an artist I admire to help me with nailing down my style (a massive creative barrier for me).

What Next?

  • After my creative coaching session above I am looking forward to getting unblocked and to making lots of art.

  • Start thinking about book 2 - still not sure on the theme.

  • Keep up the running.

Theme for the Year Update

My theme for the year is health and wellbeing. Here’s what i have done this month in keeping with my theme:

  • Started a Couch to 5K programme.

  • Missed just a couple of runs due to listening to my body (that’s a big win for me!)

  • Enjoyed a lovely massage.

  • Tried some new, nutritious recipes.

  • Cleared my system of all my regular medications (I have had to go on a short course of antibiotics for sinusitis but otherwise, I’m clear!)

Reflection on 2018

Rather than focus on my achievements for the month, now felt like a good time to reflect on my biggest achievements of 2018. So… what went well?

What Next? (AKA Goals for 2019)

I plan to keep things simple in 2019 as I will be working full-time until summer break. So here are my three goals for 2019:

  1. Personal: there will be no diets and no crazy exercise regimes… instead I will simply ask myself “what would a healthy person do?” I’m also committing to a monthly massage starting next week.

  2. The Teaching Space: I will write and publish book two and continue growing the podcast and releasing episodes consistently.

  3. Martine Makes: I will focus on making art prints and stationery in 2019.

My theme for the year is: health and wellbeing.
