How Would You Score Today?

I’m trying a new journaling experiment. It's something simple, inspired by an interview with David Dewane on Cal Newport’s Deep Questions podcast.

Dewane shared that he gives each day a “Collins Score” (a method from Jim Collins): a daily rating from -2 to +2. It’s entirely subjective.

-2 = Bad day.

0 = Neutral day or, as Dewane puts it, languishing.

+2 = Great day.

I’m going to give it a try.

I already journal daily in Tana, so I’m adding one number and a short explanation at the end of each entry. I've added prompts to my template.

It’s a low-effort way to collect quantitative data alongside my usual reflections, and I’m curious to see what patterns emerge. Tana’s built-in AI should make that easy to explore.

Have you tried anything like this? Fancy experimenting with me?
