A Powerful “Yes”

Sometimes, "no" is the right answer.

It often is.

We sometimes say "yes" because we feel we should. Because we don’t want to disappoint. Because we worry about what saying "no" might mean.

But every "yes" comes at a cost. Sometimes, saying "no" to something makes space for a more meaningful "yes" elsewhere—whether that’s a big opportunity or a much-needed moment of rest.

I like how Derek Sivers puts it in Hell Yeah or No:

"Saying no makes your yes more powerful."
