54321 Grounding Technique
If you're feeling overwhelmed, try this quick grounding exercise to bring you back into the present:
👀 5 things you can see
🤚 4 things you can touch
👂 3 things you can hear
👃 2 things you can smell
👅 1 thing you can taste
I like this technique because you can do it all in your head—no one needs to know. And if you get the steps mixed up (e.g. 5 things you can hear), it’s no big deal… though 5 things you can taste might be trickier!
